Here at The Bookshelf, we couldn't agree with Cicero more. Every member of our staff is busy planting their own gardens in time for summer harvest, so we thought placing books and gardening supplies side-by-side in-store made perfect sense. This spring, we're happy to carry supplies from The Thoughtful Gardener, a line of products we absolutely love. 

We've got seed markers, garden organizers, mugs, shovels, and more, great for gardening novices and experts alike. Plus we've got some pretty cookbooks and children's picture books fun for after-planting reading!

 

(And if you're curious about sustainable food and what it means to grow your own, don't forget our Foodopoly event, this coming Monday night at 7:00. It's sure to be an eye-opening and enlightening look into the American food industry.)

That's the question Wenonah Hauter (executive director of Food and Water Watch) asks in her book, Foodopoly. In the book, Hauter takes aim at the real culprit behind America's food crisis: the control of food production by a handful of large corporations that prevents farmers from raising healthy crops and limits the choices that people can make in the grocery store.

 

Foodopoly has already been released to raving reviews, and we're pleased to announce we're welcoming Wenonah Hauter to our Midtown store for a signing and food event. Join us Monday night, May 6, at 7:00 in Midtown. Mingle and buy Foodopoly upstairs at The Bookshelf, then head downstairs to Paisley Cafe for appetizers and a talk and signing with Ms. Hauter. The event is $10 at the door. We hope to see you there!
